1900.06.15 1900 Census, NE Minneapolis
Nellie Blowe, 52, household head, cook, cannot write, can read, living in same house as daughter Nellie Sullivan, son-in-law Cornelius Sullivan, and their 7 children. All at 901 4th St. NE.
Bailey T. Baldwin still alive, listed as living on Lincoln St. at 80 years of age. Wife Marguerite died March 31, 1900, acc to RootsWeb posting on Marguerite Bleau dit Rossignol.

1905 Minneapolis City Directory
Ella Blowe (wid Louis) 328 13th Ave NE.
Cornelius Sullivan at same address.
Interpretation:
For at least 20 years, 1885-1905, Nellie lived with her daughter Jennie and son-in-law Cornelius. Nellie worked as a cook, probably for most of this 20 year period.
1915.06.01
1915 Minneapolis City Directory
Nellie Blowe (wid Louis), 3525 43rd Ave. So.
Cornelius Sullivan, 342 13thh Ave NE
Interpretations:
ˇ
Nellie has moved as far away from Northeast as she can get, back to an area she used to pass every day when she worked in Richfield near Fort Snelling in 1880. The house at 3525 was built in 1911, and does not appear in the 1910 census.
ˇ
Historical weather data show that the period the census-taker was enumerating this neighborhood – Jan and Feb 1920 – it was very cold with more than a foot of snow on the ground. For some reason he never made it to 3525.
Final Notes:
ˇ
This 1915 city directory listing is the last documentary evidence we have for Nellie / Ellen / Ella / Nettie Kinsman Lang Blowe. She is 67 years old. Daughters Jennie and Nellie are married and settled in NE Mpls.
ˇ
The children of Bailey T. & Marguerite Baldwin, all born in MN, would seem to be:
Lucy, b. 1851
William, b. 1859
Mary, b. 1863
Laura, b. 1867

Ward 1, Schedule 7, Household 92, p.
12:
Baldwin, Bailey T., 66, b. Alabama
Baldwin, Margaret, 61, b. Manitoba
Interpretations:

alone, and only two doors down from
Bailey's daughter Lucy McClure, and only
a few more doors down from Lucy's
brothers-in-law and their family, the
McClure's.
Ward 1, Schedule 15, Household 145, p.
23:
Le Perdo, Edward, 32, b. Canada
Le Perdo, Adalaid, 30, b. Mich
Blow, Louise, 10, b. Minnesota
The Le Perdo's here are the Thibodeau's
in the 1900 census.
Interpretations:
ˇ
Nellie's daughter Louise is being raised
in the Thibodeau household, at least
part of the time.
ˇ
The
Thibodeau's are part of the extended
family and friend network of
French-Canadians in NE Mpls.
Centreville Township, Anoka County
At least 29 Lamot's in Centreville Twp,
all living close to each other, all
French-Canadians.
Interpretation:
ˇ
These are the "Lamart's" of the 1870 and
1880 censuses.

Baldwin, William, 27, b. MN
Baldwin, Abby, 23, b. MN

This
has to be Bailey T. Baldwin's son
William, who's apparently the only
one to move out of NE Mpls.

Blowe, Louise, 6, b. Minn, father b.
Germany, mother b. Mich
Baldwin, William, 21, laborer, b. Minn,
father b. Alabama, mother b. Canada
Interpretations:
ˇ
Nelly and
Janey Lang are Nellie's daughters by Frank Lang,
Nellie and Jennie.
ˇ
William
Baldwin is Bailey T. Baldwin's son
ˇ
Louise Blow
is also Nellie's daughter – the Germany listing
for father's birth is probably wrong
ˇ
The
Mueller's are probably not connected, but just
sharing the house
ˇ
John Lamart
is connected to the family, along with other
Lamart family members – known as neighbors up in
Centerville, Anoka County, 1870 and before
(listed as "Lamot" in 1885 MN census).

Interpretations:
ˇ
Lucy
McClure (house 181) is Bailey T. and
Marguerite Baldwin's daughter, married into
the McClure family and living next door to
her mother and father
ˇ
Other
McClure's also part of the kin network now
ˇ
Anthony
Lamart and family live two doors down from
Bailey T. and Marguerite Baldwin – family
connection not clear – probably just friends
of the family from Centerville, Anoka County
days in 1870s, but definitely enmeshed
within the same circles of family & friends

mills, illiterate, b. MN, parents b. Canada
Pingilly, James, 37, m, boarder, works in planing
mill, b. England, parents b. England
Interpretations:
ˇ
Several
people counted twice in same 1880 census,
including Bailey T. & Marguerite Baldwin, little
Louise Blow, and Theodore & Lucy McClure.
Louise
Blow listed as "cousin" of Lucy (Baldwin) McClure,
which sort of makes sense if she is Nellie's
daughter (Louise Blow is Lucy's – what? Niece?
Louise is the daughter of Lucy's mother's widowed
daughter-in-law. Whatever that makes her, cousin is
a close as anything).
ˇ
Louise
McClure's maiden name must be Goburn, as her two
brothers, Alexander and Nelson, live with her
and her husband Peter.
ˇ
By marrying
into the McClure family, Lucy Baldwin brought
the McClure's and Goburn's into the extended kin
network.
