"School house West Castleton 1905" [A key
historic photograph! This is looking east along Cedar
Mountain Road, from near the front door of the Hazard House;
Lake Bomoseen is clearly visible in the distance, as are the
poles carrying electric wires to the slate operations on
Cedar Mountain.]

"1906 [Whist?] [This is a very odd photograph,
seemingly several super-impositions in a montage that makes
no sense -- weird.]

"Martha Camp Adirondack 1906" [age 15; a
very poor quality photograph, but a fascinating one --
suggests Martha Ballard was trained to be capable in the
out-of-doors, and shows her to be slender and fit]

"[L. R.?] Hazard & Wife, West Castleton, Sept 1905"
[initials don't make sense -- there is no L. R. Hazard that
I can find -- this must be Samuel Lyle Hazard & Annie --
Martha's step-father and mother. He'd be 50, she 44,
which looks right, and the resemblances are there -- but why
identify them so? Maybe because she was in her teens?
A wonderful photo -- I'm assuming it's Martha's parents,
Samuel & Annie Hazard]

courting Martha Ballard; she was 14; the awning marks this
as the Hazard House; the two people seated in the background
look like mom & dad; the two young people in the foreground
look like Martha & the young man in photo 412b, above]
