218.  October 31, 1886.  Listing of our grandfather John Delehanty's birth.  Castleton Births, Deaths, Marriages, I didn't note exactly which book but it's for 1886.  See no. 222, below, for page 2 of this listing, which I didn't realize existed until later -- guess I was too excited too look the first time around, especially after finding an actual textual reference to John Delehanty!

221.  Back to the records!  Birth Certificate of James Andrew Delehanty (who went on to become a big-shot New York City lawyer, as documented elsewhere in these pages [Documents Pages > John Delehanty > James A. Delehanty].  August 3, 1878.

222.  Continuation of page listing our grandfather John Delehanty's birth, showing his parents Mathias & Bridget Delehanty (see no. 218, above).

223.  Yet another photo of Ambrose Delehanty's birth certificate; why did I want another?  A different angle? 

224.  A key piece of evidence:  listing of death of Kate Downs on January 20, 1870, first wife of Patrick H. Downs, whom we learn was the daughter of N. P. and Bridget Hatch of Boston, Mass. -- meaning, she was the sister of James Delehanty's wife Mary Hatch, which in turn means that Patrick H. Downs and James Delehanty were not only friends:  they married sisters!  Kate died in childbirth at age 21.  Deaths Registered in the Town of Castleton, 1870, p. 78.

225.  Another listing of Kate Downs's death, though here it's listed as January 10, 1871 -- a year later than the previous listing.  The registrar must've gotten mixed up with the new year.  Seems as though the child died around the 10th, and Kate died ten days later.  Deaths Registered in the Town of Castleton, 1871, p. 80.
